- The dwarves of the Great Rift build the city of Khôltar to aid in trade with humans across the Shaar. It was not initially called Khôltar. In 341 DR, Amberu Khôltar was granted authority over the trading camp and some autonomy from the dwarves of the Rift, and he named it Durthkhôltar (literally, "Fort Khôltar"). Eventually, the name was shortened to Khôltar.
