Aelinthaldaar was the capital of Illefarn, an ancient elven civilization in Northwest Faerûn. The city was located where Waterdeep is in present-day Faerûn. The elves destroyed their own city in -1100 DR when they retreated to Evermeet, leaving very little behind. The magic effect that prevents the plateau from collapsing, regardless of activities below the surface, is still in effect, and there are still crypts below the Pantheon Temple of the Seldarine in Waterdeep.[1]
