Lady Alustriel Silverhand (known as Elué Dualen to the elves) is the former ruler of Silverymoon and is currently the High Lady of the League of the Silver Marches, a confederation of various states in the areas around Silverymoon (Mithral Hall, Everlund, Citadel Adbar to name a few).

She is a powerful mage, being one of the Chosen of Mystra and one of the Seven Sisters. She is known for her love and devotion to her people, something really unusual for many people who hold political power. Therefore, she is extremely popular in Silverymoon, and most of her subjects would do anything in their power to prevent any harm from happening to her. She is considered a wise and fair ruler, but she does not hesitate to be ruthless when needed (i.e. in diplomacy).

As of the events of the Spellplague, Alustriel, along with six of the other chosen seven sisters of Mystra have vanished. They are presumed deceased, minus The Simbul, now much diminished and under an assumed name.

Apart from being an intelligent, wise, and charismatic leader, she is also very beautiful. She has warm and compassionate eyes and a flawless face.^[1]

In addition to her siblings, the other six of the Seven Sisters, Alustriel has 12 male children, all with the surname of Aerasumé. Their names are (alphabetically) Andelver, Boesild, Dolthauvin, Elinthalar, Ghaelryss, Inthylyn, Lilinthar Aerasumé, Methrammar,^[2] Naerond, Raerilarr, Tarthilmor, and Uoundeld.^{[citation needed]} She also has female children that have never appeared in realmslore.^{[citation needed]}.

She always sought to create a realm that would radiate glory and culture, much like the elven kingdom of Myth Drannor. Despite her desires, she knows that sometimes another course of action may be appropriate, such as when she once denied the dark elf ranger Drizzt Do'Urden entry to the city in order to maintain good relations with nearby Nesmé.^{[citation needed]}

Eventually, as Drizzt became more accepted in the general area (and regarded as a hero by many), he has since been allowed into Silverymoon by Alustriel. They became friends over the years, where she and Drizzt (along with Drizzt’s pet Guenhwyvar) had repeatedly spent time alone together in Alustriel’s home.^{[citation needed]}

Given the nature of both Alustriel and Drizzt, it is assumed that they merely talked and enjoyed each others company. A romantic relationship is only vaguely implied at one point, and it is from the perspective of Catti-brie, who, at that time, is developing feelings for Drizzt. She is likely just a bit paranoid that Drizzt may be involved with Alustriel. Given that Alustriel will be young and beautiful when she is long dead, and Drizzt is still a very young drow, her fears may be well justified.
