Anais ruled from her capital city of Darromar and was attended by royalty and petty courtiers who owed fealty to her and her realm. Queen Anais ruled indirectly through her dukes, counts, and more visibly, her sheriffs, whom she appointed directly to maintain law and order.
Anais was of the House of Rhindaun. She was the eldest daughter of the former Queen Cyriana II. Her grandfather was Reinhold. Her half-sister was Evonne Linden.
Queen Anais did not have an easy reign. Early in her rule, her sister Evonne tried to take the throne. Then, in 1469 DR, all of her nieces and nephews were murdered in the Children's Massacre, leaving Evonne's daughter Ysabel as the only survivor.
