Armor of darkness was an abjuration spell exclusive to clerics with the Darkness domain. It armored the subject with shadow.[1]
Effect
The spell enveloped the warded creature in a shroud of flickering shadows. The shroud could, if the caster desired, conceal the wearer's features. In any case, it granted the subject protection vs. attacks. The subject could see through the armor as if it did not exist and was also afforded darkvision. Finally, the subject gained a slight resistance against any holy, good, or light spells or effects.[2]
Undead creatures that were subjects of armor of darkness also gained turn resistance.[2]
History
Armor of Darkness was first known to the Nightcloak priests of Shar in Netheril.[3] It remained a secret of the clergy of Shar for centuries.[4] However, by 1372 DR, the clerics of Lolth, Mask, Set, and Shargass had gained knowledge and use of this spell.[1]
