Aznar Thrul, Zulkir of evocation, Tharchion of Priador, was one of the eight rulers of Thay and its titular Red Wizards. An exceedingly cruel and evil man, he was the greatest rival of the lich Szass Tam, Zulkir of necromancy.[1]

[edit] Background
Originally trained in the Art at Blackstaff Tower by Khelben.[2] In his youth Thrul bargained with Kossuth, god of fire, to aid the Red Wizards during the Salamander War. Their victory led to the capture of the Priador march and the appointing of Thrul as its tharchion.[citation needed]
Aznar Thrul was assassinated by a glabrezu-like demon in 1375 DR. His position as Zulkir of Evocation has yet to be filled.[3]
