The Baldur's Gate series of computer games by BioWare Corp and the now-defunct Black Isle Studios have become some of the most respected computer roleplaying games to date. A trilogy of novels adapting the video games were not nearly as well received.

Baldur's Gate
The original, released in 1998. Based on 2nd Edition ruleset.
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
An expansion pack for the original game.
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
The sequel to Baldur's Gate, released in 2000.
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
An expansion pack for Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, adding a large amount of gameplay, released in 2001.
Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound (Cancelled)
A cancelled game, initially planned to be released in 2004. It was revealed that the game had more plot connections with Icewind Dale II than with Baldur's Gate series.
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
A remake of the 1998 video game Baldur's Gate and its expansion. It was released in 2012. It uses the Baldur's Gate II engine as a base, and thus, it includes many of its classes and rules tweaks plus new party members.
Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
A remake of the 2000 video game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and its expansion. It was released in 2013. It includes the new party members introduced in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
An expansion for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition set between Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It was released in 2016.
Baldur's Gate III
A distant sequel to II released in 2023. Developed by Larian Studios and based on 5th Edition ruleset.
