| “ | The first thing that stands out about this creature is the massive sawtoothed glaive it carries. The creature's pointed ears and moist, scaly skin mark it as an outsider. It has a long tail, clawed hands and feet, and a snaky, disgusting beard. | ” |
Bearded devils, also called barbazu, serve as shock troops in the Nine Hells armies, spearheading attacks by masses of lemures.[1]

Physical description
Edit
Barbazus stand 6 ft (180 cm) tall and weigh about 225 lb (102 kg). They have thick beards make of coarse, wiry hair that oozes with foulness. They often wear infernal armor into battle, although their own heavily-scaled hide will shrug almost any attack.[1]
Combat
Edit
Bearded devils are aggressive and love to fight. They revel in their battle frenzy, spreading mayhem among their foes. A bearded devil's natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, holds evil magic. These fiends will use the extended reach of their sawtoothed glaives to their advantage. Enemies who get too close will be grappled and subjected to the foul disease lingering in the devils' beards.[1]
Ecology
Edit
These devils are the elite soldiers of Hell's legions. They are savage fighters who will enter a frenzied rage before engaging in battle. Between wars, they find employment as guards and sentinels for more powerful devils.[1]
