Hickory was a type of deciduous tree found in the Realms.[5] Their name was also used to refer to the edible nuts that they produced.[3][4]

- Bitternut, a variant found growing in the Midwood area of the forest of Cormanthor.[1]
Habitats[]
Hickory was a common tree throughout the Realms.[6]
- In north Faerûn, hickory flourished in and around Cormyr.[7]
- Hickory was known to grow in both the Midwood and Starwood areas of the Cormanthor forest.[1]
- Hickory was known to grow in the forests of the lowlands of the Moonshae Isles, especially in Myrloch Vale.[5][8][9]
Beyond the Prime Material[]
- In Qui, one of the forests in sector five of the plane was populated with hickory during the Season of the Phoenix and the Season of the Unicorn, while one of the plane's other forests only had hickory trees in the Unicorn season.[10]
Usages[]
- Hickory wood was used for tough, durable items, such as chests[11] bows,[12] sword canes,[13] clubs,[14]
- Hickory oil could be extracted from the tree's nuts.[15]
- Hickory nuts were used as an ingredient in a variety of dishes, including nut cheese.[16]
