Blowpipes come in varying sizes, depending on philosophy of use. When the user needs a medium ranged weapon, for hunting or fighting, the blowpipe is longer, about 2 to 4 feet long, and heavier and uses larger darts. When they need a small, concealable short range weapon they are 8 inches to 2 feet. Sometimes the blowpipe is foldable, allowing it to be concealed but also offering greater range and stopping power.

Smaller blowpipes are generally made of wood, while larger blowpipes may be made out of any metallic substance, as they can double as clubs.
