Boldovar Obarskyr (Boldovar the Mad[1]) was the king of Cormyr until his believed death in 242 DR.[3] Although Boldovar was the second eldest male child, [2]he was crowned after his father, Tharyann, outlived his older siblings.[4]

[edit] Relatives

Boldovar's father was King Tharyann.[3] His son was Iltharl Obarskyr.[5]

[edit] Background

Boldovar was known as "Boldovar the Mad" due to his erratic and enraged behaviour (which is rumoured to have involved him strangling his elder brother Dorglor), partially kept under control by the magic of Baerauble Etharr.[4] During his reign he had the windows of Faerlthann's Keep transformed into barred slits.[6] He was said to have died in 242 DR when he killed a female consort, but in her last moments, the woman grabbed him and pulled him over the battlements of Faerlthann's Keep.[4] In reality, he was kept alive by Baerauble's magic for 4 more years but in death was claimed by the "Ghazneth Curse".[2]
