Dire corbies were a mutated semi-humanoid horrors that were once flightless birds.[1]

They were common to the southern reaches of the Underdark.[1]

Dire corbies were bipedal and black skinned. They possessed a beaked bird's head, the torso of a man, and were both featherless and wingless. Both of their powerful-looking arms ended in hooked, wicked claws, and their legs ended in a three-toed foot.[1]

Belwar Dissengulp remarked that dire corbies look like a drow-bird crossbreed.[2]

Dire corbies were known to inhabit one of the vaults in Gauntlgrym around 1479 DR.[1]
