The Elk tribe was one of the Uthgardt barbarian tribes whose realm of influence includes the Evermoors, the Dessarin and the lower Surbrin valleys.

In 1372 DR, the Elk ancestral mound was the Flint Rock.[2][note 1] At this time, the tribe had gained loose ties with Luskan. The tribe's realm of influence at this time included the Evermoors, the Dessarin and the lower Surbrin valleys.

By the time of the War of the Silver Marches, the tribe shunned civilization. They wandered the Evermoors and the land north of the Dessarin River, between Yartar and Noanar's Hold. [1]

With respect to the other tribes, the Elk were the most arrogant and self-indulgent, often regarded as nothing than mere bandits. They raided caravans and villages endlessly, taking prisoners ransom or selling them as slaves.[3]

Under Zokan Thunderer's rule, clerics of Talos gained a stranglehold on the tribe.[3]
