The Elk tribe was one of the Uthgardt barbarian tribes whose realm of influence includes the Evermoors, the Dessarin and the lower Surbrin valleys. Under the leadership of chieftain Zokan Thunderer,(as of year 1359.) They have also gained loose ties with Luskan.

In 1372 DR, the Elk ancestral mound was the Flint Rock.[1][note 1]

With respect to the other tribes, the Elk were the most arrogant and self-indulgent, often regarded as nothing than mere bandits. They raided caravans and villages endlessly, taking prisoners ransom or selling them as slaves.[2]

Under Zokan's rule, clerics of Talos gained a stranglehold on the tribe.[2]
