Ettin were giants with two heads that were capable of independent thought and can each control one arm for attacking.[2]

Typically, an ettin fought with two weapons, such as a morningstar and javelin.[2]

Ettins liked to make their homes in caves and underground settings.[2] In Jotun the word "ettin" meant runt.[4]
