Feint of honour

From Forgotten Realms Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Feints of honour were devised by dragons of old to avoid deaths when they inevitably came into conflict with each other. All Dragonkind follow the code that allows for this kind of ritual combat, regardless of their alignment.[1]

  • Each combatant asks the other their name if they don't already know it. They must answer truthfully.
  • A list of offences is given by the challenger, ending with the simple phrase: "For these barbarities, I challenge you!"
  • Terms of the combat and any spoils of victory are then offered by the challenger, to which the challenged may make counter-offers. Only when agreement is reached can combat begin. The code notes that the more conditions the challenger places, either on the combat or the spoils, the more concessions the challenged may demand in counter-offers.
  • When both parties agree, both most state their agreement aloud. The challenger then says: "The code is honoured, the pact is made." After this phrase, combat begins.[1]
