Forums: Helping Hand > Copyright -- what is our official policy?

Use the following template for a nicely presented post:

{{Forum post|Write your message here!|~~~~}}

Everytime that you edit a post, there's a link to our Copyrights page. I often times pass it over, but as I was trying to find a good copyright template for some images I was uploading, I actually took a look. And I noticed that we don't have an official Copyright policy.

So I made one up, in the wiki spirit of "be bold in your edits".

But this really bears more discussion. Please see the link above for the GFDL license, and let's discuss whether it's a good policy for this site (as opposed to something like Creative Commons).

Btw, I also created 3 more image "copyright tags" for uploaded images or other content:

As well as a category for all these copyright tags: Category:Copyright Tags

All the text is released under the GFDL. If you come across any text on the wiki that has been plagiarized or taken directly from a copyrighted source, please do something about it. If a large chunk of text is like this, the entire article might have to be deleted and recreated. Images depend upon other factors, so some might be fair use, or creative commons, or public domain, or anything really. Every image should have some information on how it is licensed. Thanks for creating those copyright tag templates, I'm sure they will come in really useful.
