Which should I read first?

Hi everyone. Stupid question, but...

My wife just bought me the Erevis Cale trilogy. Is there a series I should read first as fas as the characters are concerned? I started reading the first book, but I get the feeling there was something before this...

Thanks!

You'll probably be wanting to read some, if not all of the Sembia: Gateway to the Realms series. If you don't want the entire series then go with Halls of Stormweather (specifically "Resurrection" which is story no. 6 in that particular anthology) and Shadow's Witness. If you enjoy The Erevis Cale Trilogy, his story continues in Shadowbred, Shadowstorm and Shadowrealm, The Twilight War trilogy.

Alot of the Twilight war is focused on Rivalen... a prince of shade and Nightseer of Shar, the Lady of Loss... I would recommend reading the Archwizards Trilogy, it explains how the city of Shade arrived on the prime material plane after 2K years on the Plane of Shadows and the emergence of Shadow Magic. Cale and Rivalen's destiny's are intertwined in the Twilight War trilogy which is, by the way, the latest trilogy to feature Cale.
