The Gauntlets of ogre power were found among other objects upon the rescue of the drow/wood elf Zhai, when she had been subdued and captured in the troll mines, among the powerful beads of force and the ring of jumping. These powerful gauntlets give the wearer (in this case) the strength of a powerful ogre and furthermore allow him or her to smash the ground with great force, causing great damage to enemies and for the smashing of walls and the removal of obstacles. They where wield by Rannek and used to progress the advance of the party on there journey.
This also appears in Baldur's Gate (game), where this pair can be gained from killing Desrata in the floating boat inn the Low Lantern and in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (game), in which the party must kill a halfling in Lavok's sphere.
