A gem is a precious or semi-precious rock that can be cut or polished to make jewellery and other valuables. Gems are commonly kept by nobility and the wealthy to show off riches.

Gems are present in a variety of sizes, colours and compositions, such as diamonds, rubies, amethysts, sapphires and pearls.
