A civilar was a member of the City Watch of Waterdeep, holding a rank equivalent to a lieutenant or captain.
They typically patrolled inside the walls of Waterdeep in groups of four, with two patrolpersons, one sergeant, and one captain or lieutenant.
Circa 1357 DR, civilars of the City Watch typically had the standard City Watch kit of leather and chain armor, short swords, daggers, and sturdy rods like clubs.
Circa 1372 DR, in addition to their uniform, civilars were outfitted in a +1 chain shirt, with a steel light shield, and carried a +1 short sword and masterwork club. They also possessed a potion of cure light wounds and an amulet of the watch.
