The golden lion was a gold coin that served as the standard currency of Cormyr and was equivalent in value to a gold piece.[1][2]
History[]
Prior to 1357 DR, the lion was divided into 20 silver falcons. After the events of the Time of Troubles in 1358 DR, the gold coin was devalued so it was worth only 10 falcons. The size of the coin did not change, but most people agreed the coins far less encumbering.[citation needed]
