Grease (originally called Shan's tallow[1]) was a low-powered conjuration spell of the creation subschool used by arcane casters to cover a solid surface in an oily film.[3] Some clerics of Ghaunadaur,[8][9] Ilsensine,[10] Laogzed,[10] and Moander[11] were granted the power of grease by their deities, and ooze genasi could create a similar effect.[12]

EffectsEdit

This spell would coat a single object or a ten-foot-square surface within a close range with a layer of slippery grease, which would last for a number of seconds depending on the power of the caster.[3]

ComponentsEdit

In addition to verbal and somatic components, the caster required a piece of butter or a bit of pork rind to cast this spell, which disappeared.[3]

HistoryEdit

The spell was invented by the Netherese arcanist Shan in −644 DR.[13]
