Greater planar ally was a conjuration spell that called up to three outsiders or elementals from their home plane to aid the caster in exchange for payment.[1]

This spell functioned in the same manner as lesser planar ally, except that the caster could call three such creatures, or two somewhat larger creatures, or one very large creature. The creature(s) agreed to help the caster in return for payment or a favor.[1]

When a creature was called of the good, evil, chaotic, lawful, air, earth, fire, or water types, greater planar ally was a spell of that type.[1]

In addition to verbal and somatic components, this spell required a holy symbol or divine focus to cast. When cast, this spell stole a small portion of the caster's life experience.[1]
