The Green Folk were one of the four basic people groups of Maztica, living in the low jungles south of the desert known as the House of Tezca.[1][2]

DescriptionEdit

The Green Folk were short like the Payit.[3][4] They were dexterous but not overly strong.[4]

PersonalityEdit

As a rule, the Green Folk were private people. In fact, few who entered their forests were ever seen again.[4] They would shoot first with their arrows and ask questions later. However, it was possible to impress them with displays of supernatural power.[5]

SocietyEdit

The Green Folk were organized into separate villages and did not have a nation of their own[1][4] although the nation of Kolan, which was found on the western coast of Maztica, included inhabitants of Green Folk stock.[4][6] These villages were scattered through the jungles of the Southern Wilds.[5]

ReligionEdit

The Green Folk worshiped gods of nature, such as Maztica, Nula, Qotal, or Watil, but they did not practice human sacrifice.[4]

CombatEdit

They were highly skilled in the use of bow and arrow, and they often tipped their arrows with kurari poison.[4]

When they took prisoners, they only rarely let them live.[4]
