Hoard of the Dragon Queen is a 2014 Forgotten Realms adventure module for the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons, designed by Kobold Press and the Wizards RPG Team. The module revolves around the Cult of the Dragon's plans to free Tiamat, the goddess of chromatic dragons, from the Nine Hells. Hoard of the Dragon Queen is part of the Tyranny of Dragons storyline, and received a direct continuation in the adventure module The Rise of Tiamat.

Fight the War Against Draconic Oppression in this Adventure for the World's Greatest Roleplaying Game
In an audacious bid for power the Cult of the Dragon, along with its dragon allies and the Red Wizards of Thay, seek to bring Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells to Faerun. To this end, they are sweeping from town to town, laying waste to all those who oppose them and gathering a hoard of riches for their dread queen. The threat of annihilation has become so dire that groups as disparate as the Harpers and Zhentarim are banding together in the fight against the cult. Never before has the need for heroes been so desperate.

Notes[]

  1. Canon material does not provide a year for the Tyranny of Dragons storyline, but in a forum post, Greg Marks stated it was set in 1489 DR. However, the events of the Tyranny of Dragons are discussed in the novel Archmage, which is set in 1485/1486 DR and has events that necessarily put it after The Rise of Tiamat. Since this inconsistency has not been cleared up, this wiki will use the vague term "1480s DR" for events related to this storyline, though it is most likely no latter than 1486 DR.
