Organization
Edit
The house was famous for its wizards, even giving the males status near to the females.[5] Matron Mother Zeerith would even listen to the men, as she relied more on advisors than other matriarchs.[6] The wizards had more arcane power than any other house, and those who had no skill would not survive childhood.[3] Such talentless males were used as sacrifices.[6]
Equipment
Edit
The cautious nobles would dress in loose clothing and masks so that not even their gender, much less their individual identities, could be seen.[3]
History
Edit
House Xorlarrin's magic divined information from a private conversation between the brothers Jarlaxle and Gromph Baenre when the former was investigating the Dawn Titan imprisoned in Gauntlgrym, and Zeerith sent scouts to the ruins.[6] The Bregan D'aerthe leader hoped to keep the city and primordial from other drow.[7]
By the late 15th century DR, Xorlarrin had reached the position of third House of Menzoberranzan.[3] House Xorlarrin was a strong supporter of Lolth's plan to create a Demon Weave.[3] Many lesser wizards joined the Council of Spiders.[5] The house itself was inclined to support the Council's cause, even at the cost of civil war.[8] In 1463 DR, a Xorlarrin expedition, lead by Ravel, sought to establish a new drow city in the dwarven ruins of Gauntlgrym.[9]
