Immortals are outsiders native to the Astral Sea and the many planes that lie within it whose essence is primarily composed from that same fundamental plane. In spite of their name, they are not the only beings capable of immortality, many elementals and even natural creatures also being capable of something along such lines. However, agelessness and the incapablity of dying a natural death is something that defines all immortals, which is not true of elemental, fey, natural, or shadow creatures. All immortals are immortal to this extent, though they are capable of being killed by more deliberate means and few immortals feel the need to eat or sleep either.
The most powerful of all immortals are the gods, who are challenged only truly by the most powerful aberrations or the mighty primordials.
