A jellaba, (pronounced: /ɛlˈɑːbɑːjell-AH-bah[4][5]) or "night cloak",[1] was a thick, warm aba worn over traditional clothing during the winter[2] or at night.[1][6]

Description[]

This heavy garment was made from felt or wool and was less decorated than the standard aba.[4][5] They were made of a dark (usually black) material, often heavy camel wool.[1] They hung down to the ground and were generally sleeveless, though some had full, open sleeves. Like an aba, they were typically closed at the waist by means of a sash.[5]
