Jorunhast was High Wizard of Cormyr. He was broad-shouldered and muscular.[2] He was the pupil of Thanderahast.[3]

BackgroundEdit

Jorunhast fought against the red dragons who invaded Suzail in 1018 DR. He rescued a young lady from a window in the burning Castle Obarskyr, but he fell out of favour with Azoun II who had been courting her.[4] He pursued Thauglor and battled him in the King's Forest.[5] Although Jorunhast panicked when faced with Thauglor and tried to prevent Azoun from attacking (Azoun laid the decisive blow), Azoun forgave him and the pair were subsequently on better terms.[6]

When king Azoun III died, prince Rhigaerd was only six years old, so Azoun III's brother Salember Obarskyr took the throne of Cormyr as regent. However in 1286 DR the regent Salember plotted to kill Rhigaerd and take the throne, leading Cormyr into civil war.[7] During a parlay, Salember attacks Rhigaerd but Jorunhast stepped in and slayed the regent. Although grateful for saving his life, Rhigaerd felt he must exile Jorunhast for killing a member of the royal family. [8]

Jorunhast built the Tower of Stars on Traitor's Isle, an island in Prespur on the Sea of Fallen Stars.[9]

After his exile he settled in Serôs and joined the Dukars. After the Twelth Serôs War he was granted a seat in the Nantarn Council.[1]

ReligionEdit

Jorunhast worshiped Mystra.[10]
