The Kraken Society was a secret society of thieves, assassins and mages in the Savage Frontier. Its purpose was to maintain an information network throughout the North, and it was secretly led by the the kraken, Slarkrethel. It had its headquarters in the Purple Rocks, and their main fortress in the ruins of Ascarle.[3]

OrganizationEdit

Only the society's leaders knew that Slarkrethel was the founder of their organization. The psychic abilities of the kraken were so great that it could reach out to creatures on land up and down the Sword Coast. Over the years, it telepathically lured exiles, outcasts, and lost souls to its organization with the promise of a better life. Its agents were evil and grasping. When they were not gathering information for the kraken, they lurked in the shadows and indulged in activities befitting their evil nature.[4]

HistoryEdit

The Kraken Society's widespread organization was born in the cities of the North.[4]

Some time after the War of the Silver Marches in the late fifteenth century DR, the dragon Iymrith reached out to agents of the society for assistance. Slarkrethel instructed its devotees to humor the dragon by capturing the storm giant King Hekaton and slaying Queen Neri.[4]
