Mage hand is a cantrip, or low complexity spell, learned by all wizards. When a wizard uses mage hand he or she conjures a magical, ghost-like hand within twenty-five feet, which they can use to interact with objects weighing twenty pounds or less. The hand has the equivalent speed of a dwarf and can easily drop items or, given a moment, pick up new ones. With a little bit of effort, a wizard can keep the hand conjured indefinitely, though if he or she stops attempting to do so it will dissipate within a moment of its being cast. Mage hand' can be recast at any time however.
Before the Spellplague, mage hand was a cantrip also castable by bards and sorcerers. Although it could only be cast a limited number of times per day during this era, its effects were otherwise the same.
