Malebranches (also known as war devils) are the champions of the Nine Hells who only obey pit fiends and archdevils. They also lead lesser devils in skirmishes against those who get in the way of their masters' plans. Malebranches brought to the mortal world sometimes rise as warmasters or generals, leading the armies of evil tyrannical mortals.^[1]
