Mezzoloths are the most common type of yugoloth encountered through the lower planes.
Description
They look like humanoid insects covered in great chitinous plates. They have long, lanky arms and legs and wide, armored skulls. Mezzoloths have long, sharp claws that can cut through most non-magical substances.
They have a limited form of telepathy.
Combat
Mezzoloths are of a highly magical nature and have a natural affinity for magical items. They would prefer to use magical weapons and shields in combat, but will resort to their powerful claws if none are available. Their forms are muscular, and their hides can only be hurt by magical items of a decently powerful enchantment.
They are naturally immune to the affects of paralysis and poison, can not be charmed, and possess infravision.
Habitat
They are the lowest of the yugoloths. Higher yugoloths have no regard for these soldiers and use them at front lines in battle. Due to their lack of intelligence, mezzoloths accept their lot.
Mezzoloths tend to wander lower planes, especially the Abyss, in search of souls to torment.
