Obscuring mist was a conjuration spell that caused fog to form around the caster.[2] The druid evocation could be used at a range from the caster.[1] The alteration spell obscurement was another variant of this spell.[5][8] There was also an assassin's hex[note 1] by this name.[citation needed]
Effects
A stationary cloud of mist is created by this spell/evocation, offering concealment to those within it. It was thick enough to block sight and darkvision beyond 5 ft (1.5 m) and lasted for at least a minute. Wind and some fire effects (e.g., fireball, wall of fire) could blow or burn the fog away quickly. This spell fizzled under water.
Components
Only verbal and somatic components were required to cast this spell.
