Outsiders are at least partially composed of the essence of a fundamental plane, such as the astral dominions or elemental realms. Many outsiders have darkvision out to sixty feet. As a group, they have no other special abilities or immunities. In the fourth edition, the "outsider" creature type has been replaced with more specific types such as fey, immortal, and elemental creature.
