Protection from spells was an abjuration spell that granted resistance to hostile spells.[1]

Subjects benefit from a much greater chance to resist spells and spell-like abilities (but not supernatural and extraordinary abilities).[1]

In addition to verbal and somatic components, this spell required a diamond of at least 500 gp value, which was ground to a powder and tossed over the spell recipient(s).[1]

Alternatively, this spell could use a focus. One 1,000 gp diamond per creature granted the protection. Each recipient had to carry one such gem for the duration of the spell. If a recipient lost the gem, the spell ended for that individual.[1]
