The Red Sashes are a vigilante group that is based, as well as operates, in Waterdeep.^[1] The individual cells of the Sashes, one for each ward of the city,^[2] each answer to an authority only known as "The One".^[2] Not an impulsive or excessively violent group,^[1] the Red Sashes aim to arrest the guilty and let free the innocent, typically when the City Watch fails in these aims.^[2]

MembershipEdit

Prospective members are approached by the Red Sashes and are forced to swear a loyalty oath to "The One". These invitations are only given after approval of the member has been reached after much observation. Members are not allowed to reveal any secrets of the group to outsiders and must pay a 5 gold piece per-month membership fee.^[2]

"The One"Edit

Only a few of the Lords of Waterdeep are aware of "The One's" true identity. These include Mirt, Kitten, Nindil, Sammereza and, before his death, Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun.^[2]

HistoryEdit

The Red Sashes were formed by Durnan in 1312 DR^{[citation needed]} to fulfil his own personal needs.^[3]
