Shago (pronounced: /ˈʃɔːgoʊ/ SHAW-go) was a Chultan man working as a guide out of Fort Beluarian in the late 1480s or early 1490s DR. He was the only son of the merchant prince Zhanthi of Port Nyanzaru.
He sent regular reports to his mother about the happenings at the fort, but he was not her most reliable spy among the Flaming Fist.
Although he presented himself as an independent operator, Shago was in league with the Flaming Fist. His mother Zhanthi believed she had "recruited" him to keep an eye on the Flaming Fist, but his sympathies were with the mercenaries and he rarely provided her with any secret or useful information.
Shago led many Flaming Fist expeditions into the jungle to clear out undead, despite having a great fear of being turned into a zombie or ghoul. Despite his fears, Shago knew that the undead must be defeated. He worked with the Flaming Fist because he believed that the merchant princes would not take effective action against the threat of the undead.
Shago is 6 feet 3 inches tall and 220 pounds, with rippling muscles and a friendly smile.
