Shilku was a coastal town in Chult, located in a bay south of the Kobold Mountains. It was less than 50 miles (80 km) from Wyrmheart Mine in the north and about 100 miles (160 km) from the Valley of Lost Honor.[1] The town was eventually destroyed by a volcanic eruption.[2]

Some time before the end of the fifteenth century DR, the town was both destroyed and preserved by volcanic eruption. By the end of the fifteenth century, agents of the Flaming Fist out of Fort Beluarian were considering sending an expeditionary force to Shilku to find a possible location for such a fort.[2]

After its destruction by volcanic activity, Shilku was devoid of human life. The city was far from abandoned however, as mephits, firenewts, salamanders, and other heat-loving creatures prowled its ashen alleys and bored tunnels into cellars sealed by volcanic stone.[2]
