Silence of Lolth
From Forgotten Realms Wiki
The Silence of Lolth was a period between 28 Eleasias 1372 DR[1] and 28 Ches 1373 DR when Lolth stopped granting divine spells, would not respond to communions of any type and stopped all planar travel to The Demonweb Pits.[2]
While Lolth-woshipers from all over the world tried to discover why this was the case, Triel Baenre of Menzoberranzan tasked a group to actively go out and discover why and, if others were suffering the same fate, not just Menzoberranzan. The truth was eventually discovered, and, after much betrayal in typical and atypical Drow fashion, involving armies marching on Menzoberranzan, Ched Nasad, Maerimydra and the conversion of other cities to the worship of other members of the Dark Seldarine, it was found that Lolth had moved her realm in the Abyss to its own separate plane and needed a new body before she could grant spells again.
