Stinking cloud, originally called Tolodine's stinking cloud,[1] was a conjuration spell that created a cloud bank of nauseating vapors.[3] Moon-horses of Evermeet often used this spell.[8]

EffectsEdit

The cloud created by this spell had a 20-foot (six meter) radius and was equally high. It could be formed anywhere within medium range. Creatures breathing in its fumes felt sick to the stomach.[3][2] The cloud lasted for up to one minute, for as long as the caster kept concentrating on maintaining the spell.[2]

The effects of a stinking cloud could also be obtained as a possible effect of a guards and wards spell.[9]

ComponentsEdit

This spell required verbal and somatic components[3][2] and a rotten egg,[3][2] a handful of skunk cabbage leaves,[3][2] or yochlol essence,[10] which were consumed in the casting process. When this spell was magically inscribed unto a scroll, ink made from yochlol essence[10] or smoke drake eggs[11] was often used.

HistoryEdit

This spell and the similar death fog spell were invented by the Netherese arcanist Tolodine in −2363 DR, early in the history of Netheril.[12]
