...Argumentative Conclusions Section[]
I didn't want to edit this section, as it's clearly an opinion piece, and one most likely written by someone of import on the Candlekeep forums. However, I have some issues with several points in the argument.
Azuth and Savras were mortal during the same time period...
- This is possible, but perhaps refuted by page 6 of Magic of Faerûn, which states that "Azuth came into conflict with a minor southern deity of divinations," meaning that Savras had already reached apotheosis when they began their fighting. It could be that Savras was simply made a deity before their grudge matches began, but maybe not.
Azuth must have already been Magister when he battled Savras...
- Page 14 of Secrets of the Magister says, regarding the Magister's leaving office, "...she offers the Magister the chance to become one of her near-immortal Chosen. Azuth took this route...." I grant that this doesn't preclude their first battle (or battles) having been during Azuth's tenure as Magister., but more likely he had already swapped titles and become Chosen, especially if, as the second bullet point states, Azuth and Savras were rivals for centuries.

- That's my third issue with the argument: Page 35 of Faiths & Avatars states that "Savras the All-Seeing, a rival god of mages whom Azuth defeated, was Azuth's foe for centuries" (a different quote entirely). By reading the rest of the Azuth entry in that sourcebook, my interpretation of it is that Savras simply held a grudge after being defeated/imprisoned, especially given that (again on page 6 of Magic of Faerûn), it says "The near-divine mortal and the minor deity began a battle that lasted several years." Several years could mean centuries, but more likely not.
I don't know how, or if, these counterpoints affect the logic of the argument, but I felt I had to share my two cents. 68.36.46.141 16:59, December 31, 2013 (UTC)
More pieces of the Historical Puzzle[]
I just found that the Dragon magazine 228 article "The Athalantan Campaign" by noone less than Ed Greenwood states that Tyche was not yet split in the time of Athalantar, and gives a timeline from 212 DR to 261 DR, with the Magelords existing from 218 DR to 240 DR.
All of this is later than the year 171 DR given for Moander's imprisonment. To reconcile this, presumably Moander planted his corrupting rose before 171 DR, and Tyche picked it up later (or the corruption spread very slowly within Tyche). Daranios (talk) 08:41, January 27, 2018 (UTC)

Having looked over all the articles for the Fall of Netheril, Shornthal Imynster becoming Magister, and all of Myth Drannor I've no doubt these events occurred. However none of the events in the timeline explain WHAT the Dawn War is or HOW "The Dawn Cataclysm was an attempt by the god Lathander to reshape the pantheon of deities more in his own image." We have a whole section on the page saying that the chronology of the Dawn Cataclysm is "murky" but then we have a precise timeline which makes no sense! What did Lathander do??
And what does it have to do with the death of Helm's lover, Murdane at the hands of Umberlee? (As outlined in Murdane's History section and Lathander's Relationship section)
Murdanes History section states: "During the divine event known as the Dawn Cataclysm, Lathander the Morninglord set into motion events that indirectly led to the death of Murdane. Murdane was drowned in the watery embrace of Umberlee, Queen of the Depths.
This event was linked to the destruction of the empire of Jhaamdath beneath an enormous tsunami in the Year of Furious Waves, –255 DR. However, cause and effect were unclear; whether Jhaamdath's flooding led to or was caused by Murdane's drowning was unknown.
This caused Helm the Vigilant One to view Lathander with ill will thereafter." It explicitly states that the Dawn Cataclysm led to the death of Murdane yet this page makes no mention of it. What led to the death of this lesser deity?
Now for the timeline we have written: How does the change from Mystryl to Mystra affect these events? Is Moanders sealing Lathander defeating a foe in the Dawn Cataclysm? Has The Dawn Cataclysm caused the fall and rise of Myth Drannor? These events may be a mystery that "no mortal could say for sure." in the setting, but I encourage my fellow reader to remember that we are not mortals in the forgotten realms. It is my belief that this page requires a rewrite to attempt to accurately reflect the events that occurred.
