In "Lost Empires of Faerûn" (Wizards of the Coast, February 1, 2005), there is a section on the Crown Wars. In that section, it mentions that the elven empire of Illefarn had a city where Waterdeep is currently located. It was there before the dwarven fortress of Melairbode. If I remember correctly, the elven city was razed to the ground when the Coronal of Illefarn declared the retreat to Evermeet in -1100 DR.

The main page says Dwarven Clan Melairkyn was the first group to settle in the Undermountain area. The elves were there thousands of years earlier. If Clan Melairkyn arrived in -1288 DR, Elves and Dwarves lived in the area at the same time.

- OK, now i see, well if its from a FR source add it to the page to show the "new" found data, but one of the things is that even in non FR worlds Evles usually like to remain above ground while dwarves perfer the "undermountain". So while evles may have been in the area above say the forests and maybe caves the dwarves may have taken solitude underneath the ground. So the elves would have the rights to the land if they chose to do so. But again I don't have those books its mere speculation. Pharuan Undearth 16:45, September 3, 2011 (UTC)
