Themberchaud was a red dragon allied with the duergar of Gracklstugh in the Northdark of the Underdark in 1370 DR.[1]
Personality
Like most of his kind, Themberchaud was vain and proud. He was pampered but also restless. He, at the time of Rage of Demons, started to consider conquering the whole city for himself. His ego was so big that he considered it impossible that someone would not agree with his orders.[2]
Activities
Like his predecessor, Themberchaud used his fire breath to temper the legendary steel blades of the city in exchange for contributions to his hoard. He was assisted by the Keepers of the Flame, a monastic order of duergar priest/psionicists who catered to the dragon's every whim.[1]
History
Themberchaud for long years know that the Keepers were withholding things from him, but rather than demand disclosure he had waited and observed.[2] At the time of Rage of Demons he tried to recruit his personal agents outside the Keepers. Themberchaud didn't know that, like other Wyrmsmiths before him, he was doomed to be slain before he grow too strong, replaced by a new red hatchling. However just before the Rage the line of succession was interrupted when the Gray Ghosts thieves guild stole a red dragon egg from the Keepers of the Flame.[3]
Lair
Unseen to visitors, Themberchaud lurked in a hidden side cavern on the south side of the city's central grotto.[1]
